Effective and confident communication is the staple that keeps teams and people close together and on the same page. Jacqui Patton sat down with us to talk about all things communication. She is from an Island in Europe called Jersey, and guess what? That’s where we get New Jersey from! What a fun fact! Jacqui is the founder of Ink Blot Creative and works with brands to communicate effectively with their audiences and is the perfect person to talk about effective and confident communications!
Jacqui started her career path in the theater and arts and as a theater major, your sole job is to communicate through your words, looks, actions, and the way you show up. She has taken that mindset and applied it to businesses and how they confidently communicate with their ideal audience.
First, you want to start with your big why for your business if you don’t already have one. Ours for this podcast? We are here to equip, engage, and inform our listeners with the knowledge and confidence they need to become successful business leaders. Start with your why and all other communication outlets such as Instagram posts and other various content becomes easier to create based on your main reason for doing what you do.
So how do you tweak your content and communication styles for your specific audience? Define what you want to communicate and then the medium your ideal client will receive that information? If your client is spending time on Instagram, meet them there, and tweak your communication to fit that outlet.
Now when we talk about effective communication and marketing, we have to talk about your brand.
Is the brand that you are trying to create and model one that has a loud voice or soft-spoken voice? Is it colorful or muted? Think about who your brand is. What does that brand need to embrace and impersonate to attract the ideal client you are trying to serve?
Let’s transition into communication with your team internally and externally. Businesses only work as well as the people who work within them. So if you are lacking in communication, then the longevity of the business team is going to fade eventually. In turn, if you can streamline your communication to one avenue, cohesiveness and excitement for work becomes natural instead of forced.
Sometimes, we hear: To be creative you have to create something brand new, but that’s not the truth, everything has been said or done before. So how do we tweak that to make sense for us and our audience? Well, just a simple way to do this is taking one piece of content or communication and breaking it down into a handful of tiny pieces.
Let’s take this content for example. This is a blog post all about communication styles and how we can use effective and confident communicate but also with intention. So we took this subject and found someone who models communication well, Jacqui Patton. From there we recorded a podcast episode. If you go to our Instagram account, you’ll find a story and feed post talking about this episode through quote cards and audio file snippets. If you go to Pinterest, You’ll see graphics and those quote cards again. In a few days, we’ll post a video talking about communication and that will be posted on our Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube Channel. So many places that just one piece of content can be translated into a handful of different places to meet our ideal client right where they’re at!
