Dallas Creative Community: First Connection

I can’t even express the joy we felt after our first connection for Dallas Creative Community — it was a night we’ll never forget. The people who showed up came from so many different backgrounds and shared vulnerable stories that made us all better. Before we started DCC, Kaley, Ife, and I always said that we wanted this community to be for ALL PEOPLE. I truly feel like we had the most diverse, amazing group of creatives who provided so much value to the conversation.

Who is DCC?

The Dallas Creative Community is a community for ALL PEOPLE.  Everyone has a creative bone in their body – no matter their occupation! This community is for anyone who wants to grow their connections and learn from people who are more different than alike. The group was started by Kaley Goodall, Ife Oladoja, and I, Brooke Hicks!

During our first connection, we held a guided conversation at Wax Space on what it means to be a creative. We encouraged each of our community members to engage in the conversation so that we could all learn from one another. Hearing stories from different perspectives reminded us that everyone has such a unique look at life + what it means to be creative.

The most beautiful part of the whole night was seeing everyone truly listening. Not listening to reply, but listening to understand.
